Bearded vultures eat bones. They carry them high into the air and drop them onto rocks, cracking them open to reach the marrow inside, finding sustenance where others see nothing.
They are specialists, filling a niche so specific that without them, entire ecosystems would falter under the weight of skeletons that never break down.
Their feathers are often stained rust-red from the iron-rich soil they bathe in, and for a long time, people thought they were bloodthirsty. But it’s just dust. It’s just a choice to live in a way that looks different.
You don’t have to follow the same path as everyone else. The way you find nourishment, the way you break down what’s hard and extract what’s valuable—it’s not strange, it’s yours. And it’s needed.
Stay wild,
Chris
