Axolotls are neotenic—they never fully mature, keeping their feathery gills and aquatic lifestyle even as adults, a choice that evolution favored because it worked.
They can regenerate limbs, spinal cords, even parts of their hearts and brains, rebuilding what's lost without scar tissue, without permanent damage.
They smile, perpetually, not out of happiness but because of the shape of their mouths, a reminder that appearances can be deceiving.
They exist now mostly in captivity, their wild habitat nearly gone, but they endure, adapting to new environments, still teaching scientists about healing and resilience.
You don't have to become what others expect. The parts of you that seem young, that refuse to harden, that regenerate instead of scar—they're not flaws. They're survival strategies. They're hope.
You are wonderful exactly as you are.
Stay wild,
Chris
